Tamworth MP’s Year 1 “Vital Statistics”

Christopher Pincher, Member of Parliament for Tamworth, has just chalked up his first year in Westminster. Parliamentary statistics, obtained from www.theyworkforyou.com as well as his office, show Mr. Pincher has:

· Spoken in 94 debates – well above average amongst MPs and top Staffordshire amongst Staffordshire MPs.

· Asked 85 written parliamentary questions – above average amongst MPs and third in Staffordshire.

· Voted in 94.04% of parliamentary divisions – well above average amongst MPs and top in Staffordshire and in the Midlands.

· Asked 2 Prime Minister’s Questions – about employment in our town and about new jobs for residents (tried for many more!).

· Written over 6,000 letters to over 4,500 residents.

· Sent over 5,000 emails.

· Spoken with over 156 constituents at 28 confidential surgeries.

· Met with over 300 residents in eight village meetings around the constituency.

· Made 150 visits to groups and businesses around the constituency.

· Tweeted more than 1,000 times including at many members of Tamworth’s ‘twittersphere’.

· Spent over 80 hours knocking on residents’ doors.

· Released 104 press releases.

· Active Member of both Armed Forces Bill Committee and Energy and Climate Change Select Committees.

· Member of over 10 important All Party Parliamentary Groups.

· Chaired 4 quarterly meetings between County Councillors, Police and Fire representatives and Staffordshire MPs.

· Met the President of the United States.
