Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth, has pledged to take the fight for improved breast cancer services to Westminster, as he learned on Monday, that UK breast cancer survival rates still lag behind those of other European countries.  During the reception, hosted by Breakthrough Breast Cancer at the Houses of Parliament, Mr Pincher committed to providing a voice for the nearly 48,000 UK women diagnosed each year with the disease.

Christopher Pincher supports NAS campaign to improve special educational needs system for children with autism

Christopher Pincher, MP for Tamworth attended the parliamentary launch of The National Autistic Society’s (NAS) Great Expectations campaign on special educational needs (SEN), which aims to inform and influence the Government’s proposed overhaul of the SEN system.

The launch, held in Parliament on 27th June, was hosted by MP Steve Brine (Cons. Winchester & Chandler’s Ford). Jane Asher, President of the NAS, spoke at the event about the challenges faced by parents of children with autism in getting even basic educational support. Members of Parliament and Lords were in attendance along with children with autism, parents, carers and principals and other professionals from NAS autism-specific schools.

Kudos Restaurant Wins Tiffin Cup Nomination for Tamworth

Kudos, the Indian fusion food restaurant on Coleshill Street, Fazeley has won Tamworth’s vote in the first round of the Tiffin Cup.  The competition, run annually by Keith Vaz MP and Michael Fabricant MP, aims to find the best South Asian cuisine in the United Kingdom.  The two MPs invite their colleagues to nominate a restaurant in their constituencies.  Each restaurant is then visited by mystery diners to mark the food, service, atmosphere and decor to find the winner of the Tiffin Cup.  The award is made each year at a prestigious London venue sponsored by the Newby Tea company.  All finalists are invited to attend.

Tamworth MP Lobbies Government to try and get Olympic Torch to Town

Christopher Pincher, local Member of Parliament for Tamworth, has written to the Minister responsible for the Olympics urging him to consider Tamworth in the Second Stage of the Olympic Torch Relay.  Currently the ‘Overnight Stops’ of the Olympic Relay have been confirmed but the details are still being discussed.   The closest overnight stops to Tamworth are Derby on Friday 29th June and Birmingham on Saturday 30th June.
